Currently, the retirement age for men and women in the Russian Federation is 60 and 55 years respectively. The government on June 14 presented a legislative initiative to raise the retirement age to 65 for men (by 2028) and to 63 for women (by 2034). The increase is planned to be carried out in stages, starting from 2019. The law-in-draft passed the procedure of the first reading in the State Duma. The period between the first and the second reading of the document by decision of members of the lower house of the Russian parliament has been increased.
While in Kaliningrad, during a meeting with volunteers, his opinion was voiced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that there is no final decision on changes in the pension legislation. According to him, he does not like any of the proposed options for raising the retirement age.
Vladimir Putin emphasized that various options were offered.
At the same time, he said that in order to maintain the current pension system within ten years, the country will have enough opportunities, but very quickly the number of employees will equal the number of unemployed.
The head of the Russian state said the average life expectancy now is 73.5 years, next year will be 74.3 years. By 2030, according to the projected data, the life expectancy after retirement for men will be over 15 years, and for women - over 24 years.
