Pensioners over 70 years of age will be able to choose to receive their pension into an account or in hand

10.07.2024

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic supported in the second final reading the law-in-draft of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which amends the law “On state pension provision for citizens in the PMR” and is intended to improve the legal regulation of the procedure for payment and delivery of pensions.

According to the authors of the law-in-draft, the non-cash method of receiving pension payments is simpler, more convenient and safer. More than 96.2 thousand people receive pensions in Pridnestrovie today, about  69% of which receive pensions in bank accounts. The Government's initiative to legislate the mandatory transition to non-cash transactions in pension provision was supported by the PMR Supreme Council in the course of the plenary meeting in the second final reading, but taking into account amendments by the relevant Committee on Social Policy and Health.

Thus, according to the adopted amendments to the law “On state pension provision for citizens in the PMR”, payment of pensions will be made through a bank chosen by the pensioner at his own discretion, by crediting pension amounts to the pensioner’s account in this bank. In exceptional cases, the pensioner will be able to choose whether to receive a pension to a bank account or by delivery through organizations engaged in the delivery of pensions at home or at the cash desk of the organization making the delivery if one of the conditions is met:

a) the pensioner reaches the age of 70 (seventy) years;

b) residence of a pensioner in settlements in which there are no branches or branches of a bank or branches of postal organizations;

c) presence of disability of group I or II.

The adopted amendments to the law “On state pension provision for citizens in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” will come into force 60 days from the day following the day of official publication.
