Teachers of state universities, in particular of Pridnestrovian State University, will have the right to apply for a state subsidy to purchase housing from 2026. The Supreme Council adopted this norm in the final reading, supplementing the law "On state support for young families in the acquisition of housing".
The law currently allows among other things the specialists working in the field of education to apply for a state subsidy: these are kindergartens and schools, technical schools and colleges, rehabilitation centers and organizations of additional education.
Teachers of Pridnestrovian State University will be included in the list of categories. The law-in-draft was initiated by Supreme Council deputies Viktor Guzun and Vadim Kravchuk.
The original version of the parliamentary law-in-draft assumed that the norm would come into force this year, however, due to the unfavorable economic situation in the republic, an amendment to the second reading stipulated that the law would come into force in 2026 at the suggestion of the Government. The issuance of certificates for receiving state subsidies has been suspended, but the departmental commission can register an applicant in the queue if he meets the requirements and criteria of the law on state support for young families until the end of the state of emergency in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
The law "On state support for young families in the acquisition of housing" prescribes the categories of public sector employees who can apply for a state subsidy. Specialists under 40 years of age can also apply on the initiative of a deputy since the beginning of this year. The age of the applicant should not exceed 36 years until 2025. Increasing the age and expanding the categories of recipients gives more public sector employees the opportunity to take advantage of state support, purchase housing in their home town or village, and not spend part of their salary on rent.
