Easter service

Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary holds a service in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ. A large number of believers gathered here.

Solemn Easter services are held now in more than 80 temples, churches and monasteries of Pridnestrovie.

Orthodox Christians in more than 60 countries celebrate Sunday the day of the Resurrection of Christ. The Russian, Serbian, Georgian, Constantinople, Hellas, Bulgarian, Jerusalem and other local Orthodox churches celebrate Easter on the Julian calendar, and in some countries, for example in Greece, this day is declared a state holiday.

By tradition, the Holy Fire from Jerusalem is delivered to the festive procession of the Cross. It lights and it is driven to dozens of cities - from Rome to Sevastopol. Total Easter is celebrated in more than 35 thousand temples of the Russian Orthodox Church, which are located in different countries.

Easter, or the Bright Resurrection of Christ is the main Christian holiday, which marks the victory of good over evil, life over death. It is celebrated for 40 days, but the most solemn one is the first week, Bright Week. An integral part of the holiday is good deeds, to which every Christian is called.
