Parliamentary photo exhibition for the 80th anniversary of the Victory

14.05.2025

Photo exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was held in the foyer of the Supreme Council in front of the plenary session hall. The exhibition includes photos taken by parliamentary photographers at events dedicated to May 9, starting in 2015. Information about the war period from the Pridnestrovian Historical Portal was used in the preparation. Archival documents testifying to the 3-year occupation of Pridnestrovian cities and villages, and footage from 1944, clearly demonstrating the scale of destruction of Tiraspol buildings during the Great Patriotic War, have been printed. The exhibition features a copy of the act of unconditional surrender of Germany, signed on May 8, 1945 in Berlin.

Modern photographs convey the long-standing memory of Pridnestrovians about the heroism of soldiers and officers of the Red Army in the fight against Nazism and fascism. This includes the laying of flowers at the Memorials of Glory in the cities and districts of the republic, meetings of Supreme Council deputies with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participation of parliamentarians in the Immortal Regiment march, as well as patriotic events for schoolchildren.

The photo exhibition, organized by the press service of the Supreme Council, was viewed by legislators and official guests invited to the plenary session. The first President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov emphasized the importance of organizing such expositions. The photo exhibition in the parliament building will be on display until the end of May, and will subsequently be supplemented with new photographs symbolizing the memory of the Pridnestrovian people about the Great Patriotic War.
