Almost 2.5 thousand hybrid poplar seedlings were planted by parliamentarians together with members of the Government during the republican cleanup day. The trees were planted in the floodplain of the Dniester. Speaker of Parliament Alexander Korshunov and Deputies Sergei Cheban and Vladimir Pelin took part in the volunteer Saturday work. The tradition of holding such events in our republic has been preserved since Soviet times. Many Pridnestrovians go out to plant trees in spring and autumn.
The Dniester overfloods in the spring in the area near the river between the villages of Parkany and Bychok. Young poplars will only benefit from more water. These were previously agricultural lands. Now they have been transferred to the jurisdiction of the Kitskany forestry. It is planned in two years to plant a real forest of poplars – about 12 thousand seedlings in the floodplain of the river on an area of 7 hectares.
These hybrid poplar seedlings are only a year old. They were raised by Pridnestrovian foresters. It is the best time to replant trees now, in November, when temperatures are getting closer to truly autumn levels, experts say.
Participants picked up shovels and buckets, foresters told how to properly plant young poplars before the cleanup. The main thing is to slightly deepen the holes made in advance and water just a little – about three liters is enough. The trees are already falling asleep, and they will need to be actively watered in the spring. Otherwise, the hybrid poplar has proven itself well. More than 90% of the seedlings took root in the spring, when the trees were planted near the Turunchuk River near Chobruchi (Slobodzeya district).
Handling a shovel is the order of the day for the Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy Sergei Cheban. He grew up in a village and was taught to work on the land from childhood. He quickly deepens the holes and plants small trees.
Everyone planted trees together and carried water to water the seedlings during the cleanup. This place, away from the village of Parkany, is well known to Pridnestrovian fishermen. They come here and just relax in nature. Now white poplars are planted in the area between the Dniester and the dam. They provide shade, but they are a lot of poplar seed tufts in the spring. More Pridnestrovians will come here to enjoy the beauty and silence of nature when the hybrid poplar seedlings planted this November day, which are absolutely safe for allergy sufferers, grow up.
80 hectares of new forests should be planted in the republic this year, according to plans. Pridnestrovian foresters had already planted most of it – 76 hectares totally by the traditional November volunteer Saturday work. This is about 150 thousand seedlings of oak, ash, poplar and acacia.
