Parliamentarians took part in an environmental campaign for the International Day of Forests

1650 seedlings of red oak and hybrid poplar were planted today by parliament deputies and representatives of government bodies of the republic in the landscape unit Karmanovo of Grigoriopol district. The traditional spring tree planting is being carried out for the second time. The environmental campaign was organized by the state unitary enterprise “Pridnestrovie-Forest” for the International Day of Forests, which is celebrated on the 21st of March.

The seedlings were planted on lands of little demand for agriculture and were transferred to the State Forest Fund on behalf of the President. This is one of the tasks for greening the republic. Forests occupy only 8% of the total area, which is 31 thousand hectares in Pridnestrovie. It should be at least 15%. Tree planting campaigns in different regions of Pridnestrovie are held annually. The republic has been implementing since 2021 a state target program for the restoration of tall oak forests, adopted by the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Today’s event is an important step in preserving and increasing the forest resources of the republic, and helps to improve the state of the environment and create favorable conditions for people’s lives.
