The VII meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member States of the Community "For Democracy and the Rights of Peoples" is taking place in South Ossetia. Colleagues from the legislature of Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia came to the republic.
The parliament of South Ossetia will head the interparliamentary assembly for one more year. As reported by the state news agency "Res", this proposal was made by the heads of the delegation of the Pridnestrovian parliament in the course of the meeting of the assembly. According to the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR, Alexander Shcherba, due to the difficulties experienced by Pridnestrovie, the preservation of the status of chairman of the interparliamentary organization of the three republics for South Ossetia for another year will allow for a more dynamic work of the IPA.
President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov noted that the South Ossetian side is ready to accept this proposal, and from its part suggested holding a meeting of the heads of three states - Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie within the next meeting of the IPA. He said, the possibility of the participation of the head of Nagorno-Karabakh should be discussed. Another suggestion was made by the head of the Abkhaz delegation - vice-speaker Levon Galustyan.
More than 10 years ago, South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie signed an agreement and formed a community of states "For Democracy and the Rights of Peoples". Within the framework of this international organization, an interparliamentary assembly was created, which united the legislatures of the three countries.
