Deputies of the Supreme Council considered the draft resolution “On the appointment of a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” in the course of the plenary meeting.
Victor Karamanutsa, Honored Lawyer of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, has the highest qualification class of judges, was nominated for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court.
This candidacy was previously supported by the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Law Enforcement, Defense, Security, Peacekeeping, and Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens.
Deputies of the Supreme Council unanimously supported the candidacy of Victor Karamanutsa. He will hold this position from October 1, 2023 until he reaches the age limit for serving as a judge of the Constitutional Court, namely 70 years of age in 2029.
For reference: the term of office of a judge of the Constitutional Court of the PMR is 7 years according to the current legislation. Moreover, the age limit for holding office is 70 years.
If during the term of office the judge of the Constitutional Court of the PMR reaches the age limit for holding office, he is appointed to the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of the PMR for the period until reaches the age limit.
