The Parliament has adjusted the proposed changes to the law on personal income tax

26.09.2023

Deputies of the Supreme Council adopted in the final reading the government changes to the law on personal income tax, but with adjustments in the second reading. We are talking about amendments to Article 20, which regulates the declaration of citizens' income. It was proposed initially, that citizens, who have two or more jobs, including part-time jobs, would have to submit income declarations from all places of work to the tax services. Deputy Yuriy Kucherenko introduced an amendment eliminating this provision, the Committee on Economic Policy agreed and the Supreme Council supported it.

The Supreme Council supported and adopted in final reading the Government's proposal, which gives individual taxpayers the opportunity to adjust their tax return and make changes to it before the end of the tax period – until April 1 of the next year.

Tax services will now have the opportunity to check citizens’ income declarations within 90 days, and not 30 as in the current version of the law. The new norms of the law “On Personal Income Tax” after signing by the President will come into force on January 1, 2024.
