The Parliament took note of the information on the activities of the PMR Supreme Court in 2023

The plenary meeting of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic began today with a minute of silence. Deputies, members of the Government and guests honored the memory of the victims of the terrorist attack that occurred on March 22 in Krasnogorsk in Moscow region in the Crocus City concert hall. According to the latest data, 140 people were killed. A native of the city of Bendery, Kristina Kostyuchenko was among them.

The Supreme Council heard information about the results of the activities of the Supreme Court of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic last year. The Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Adrian Penkovsky addressed the parliamentarians.

The report on the work of the Supreme Court in 2023 provided information on the consideration of criminal and civil cases in the first instance and in cassation. The main indicators remained at the level of 2022, as Adrian Penkovsky noted.

The Supreme Court took an active part in the legislative process in 2023. The Supreme Court introduced 4 legislative initiatives for parliamentary consideration during the reporting period. 3 of them have already been adopted by the Supreme Council in the second final reading as law. One law-in-draft was adopted in the first reading, the relevant committee continues to work on it.

The relevant Committee prepared a detailed report, based on the report sent to parliament. The openness of the activities of the Supreme Court was noted in particular. More information about the subjects of dispute and the progress of cases in court has begun to appear on the official website today. The Supreme Court summarizes and posts information about the consideration of cases by city and district courts in the Telegram channel of the Supreme Court of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, as well as on the social network Facebook.

The head of the relevant parliamentary Committee Galina Antyufeyeva said that today work continues in the direction of digitalization, as well as expanding the possibilities of using electronic document management in the courts. This will not only help optimize the interaction between courts and citizens, but also facilitate the interaction of courts with each other.

The Supreme Council took note of the information from the Supreme Court of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on the results of activities in 2023. Prepared by the responsible Committee the corresponding resolution was unanimously supported by parliamentarians.
