Memorial wall of memory was opened at the Jewish cemetery in Bendery in January last year. It depicts a panorama of events related to the execution of representatives of Jewish nationality and the battles that took place at the foot of the fortress in Bendery. There are 14 plates nearby with the names of the dead. The rally was held at this memorable place on May 10, the website of the City Council of Bendery reports. The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva, deputies of the Bendery City Council, citizens and public figures. Everyone who was innocently shot, tortured in the Nazi ghettos and died during the Great Patriotic War was honored with a minute of silence. Flowers were laid at the memorial.
The commemorative rally was attended by retired colonel Leonid Nudelman, a hereditary military man who served in the airborne troops for 35 years. His father fought at the front, and his uncle designed aircraft weapons during the Great Patriotic War.
300 thousand Jewish soldiers died during the Great Patriotic War, about 300 of them were natives of the city of Bendery. More than 300000 peaceful Jews were exterminated in Moldova and Ukraine. These events must not be forgotten, they said at the rally.
The civilian Jewish population during the German-Romanian occupation was shot on the territory of the Bendery fortress, on the outskirts of "Balka" and "Kavkaz" and on the banks of the Dniester. Memorial signs have been built in these places.
