The memory of the defenders was honored at the Memorial of Glory in Tiraspol

Residents and guests of the capital celebrate the Day of the city of Tiraspol today. Mass events on the occasion of the celebration of the 230th anniversary of the founding of Tiraspol began at the Memorial of Glory. The leadership of the republic and the city as well as social activists and the youth honored the memory of the heroes who died in different years, defending their native lands. Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov and Deputy Chairperson Galina Antyufeeva laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, memorial plates with the names of soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War and defending Pridnestrovie in 1990-1992, and at the sculpture of the Sorrowful Mother. Those present at the Memorial honored the fallen heroes with a minute of silence.

Tiraspol was awarded three orders: the Order of the Patriotic War of the first degree – for contribution to the victory, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor – for the post-war restoration and development of the economy and culture, and the Order of the Republic – for the contribution to the successful development of Pridnestrovie.

Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Korshunov congratulated the townspeople on the anniversary, noting the historical connection with Russia.

The public and young people went to Catherine's Park After laying flowers at the Memorial of Glory. Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeeva laid flowers at the monuments to Empress Catherine the Great and commander Alexander Suvorov, thanks to whom the city of Tiraspol was founded.

The winners of the city competition "Recognition" and honorary residents of Tiraspol will be honored in the Catherine Park today. Entertainment events for Tiraspol residents will be held in the evening. The celebrations will continue over the coming weekend.
