August 1, the Day of memory of the fallen defenders of the republic and victims of the armed conflict on the Dniester 1990-1992. This day, inhabitants of Pridnestrovie recall the events of those years, when all the people stood up to protect the young republic. Mourning events dedicated to the memory were held throughout the republic. Meeting-requiem "Memory of the Heart" in memory of the tragic events took place at the Memorial of Glory in Tiraspol.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Supreme Council Mikhail Burla, Prime Minister Tatiana Turanskaya, the head of State Administration of Tiraspol Andrey Bezbabchenko, deputies of Supreme and Tiraspol City Council, representatives of ministries and departments, public organizations, residents and guests, family of defenders.
More than 800 people were killed from the hands of the national-fascists of Moldova; approximately 2 thousand people were injured during the armed conflict. Hundreds of enterprises, institutions, schools and homes were destroyed in the republic. Bloody war on the Dniester was stopped August 1, 1992. Peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation entered the conflict zone after the signing of the cease-fire. Gunshots are not heard 23 years on the banks of the Dniester. Pridnestrovians proved that the people will cannot be broken.
Those who had speech at the meeting spoke about what the price was the piece achieved, the need to honor the memory of the brave defenders of the republic, defended freedom and the right of every Pridnestrovian to live in their native land, the need to consolidate society facing new challenges, the preservation of peace.
Participants of the meeting observed a minute of silence in tribute to memory of heroes. Fresh flowers as a sign of memory, respect and deep gratitude for their courage and perseverance lay at the graves of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland.
On the eve the evening of memory of victims of armed conflict on the Dniester was held at the Palace of Culture. Everyone from Tiraspol, who gave their lives for peace and freedom, were remembered by names. Minute of silence and lit candles were observed to tribute their memory...
Exhibition dedicated to the defenders of the Republic, which presented their personal belongings, photographs and documents was organized in the foyer of the City Palace of Culture.
