Parliamentarians began the plenary session today with a moment of silence in memory of all those who died during the Great Patriotic War. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov addressed the deputies and invitees, noting the importance of this date, the day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War for every Pridnestrovian. He noted that June 22, 1941 is the day when a time of severe trials began for a vast country and many millions of people. This is the day when the most destructive and bloody war in the history of mankind began.
“This day has become a day of memory and sorrow for our people. Every year we remember the Great Patriotic War, bow low to the fallen, remember the civilians who died from enemy bombs, tortured in concentration camps – all those who did not live to see the day of the Great Victory. Our task is to preserve and carry through the years and centuries the memory. Not to allow history to be rewritten, never to allow a repetition of those events. The inhabitants of Pridnestrovie, the country's leadership - we all stand in the position of preserving historical memory, preserving and transmitting the memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War”, said Speaker Alexander Korshunov in his address to parliamentarians and invitees.
The deputies honored the memory of the fallen soldiers and civilians who died in 1941-1945. The feat of these people, the speaker added, will forever remain in our hearts. The task of the current generation is not only to honor, but also to pass on the sacred memory to future generations.
