The President Vadim Krasnoselsky, deputy chairman of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeyeva, heads of cities and regions of the republic, representatives of the Government, public organizations of the Russian Federation and Pridnestrovie, veterans of the Great Patriotic War took part in the solemn meeting dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Iasi-Kishinev operation.

Before the obelisk of Glory, an exhibition of small arms from the Great Patriotic War was held. The Tiraspol Joint Museum and museums of the cities of the republic presented exhibits of the war years, as well as photographs of their countrymen participating in the war and the Iasi- Kishinev operation.

This was a strategic offensive operation of the troops of the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts in cooperation with the Black Sea Fleet and the Danube Military Flotilla, carried out on August 20-29, 1944. “Iasi- Kishinev Cannes”, as this brilliant operation is called, allowed to defeat the Iasi- Kishinev group of German troops, complete the liberation of the Moldavian SSR, withdraw Romania from the war on the side of Germany and open the road of the Red Army to the Balkans.

The Iasi- Kishinev operation, according to military historians, is one of the most successful Soviet operations during the Great Patriotic War and is among the "ten Stalinist attacks."

The President Vadim Krasnoselsky congratulated all those gathered, and especially veterans of the Great Patriotic War, on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Pridnestrovie from Nazi invaders. In his speech, the President noted that the brilliantly conducted Iasi- Kishinev operation liberated not only the Moldavian SSR, not only Pridnestrovie, but also Romania. This operation was carried out with minimal losses.

The President emphasized that the memory of the soldiers of the Russian Empire, the soldiers of the Soviet Union, the defenders of Pridnestrovie and the peacekeepers of the Russian Federation is kept in Pridnestrovie. For the entire Pridnestrovian people, the 44th year liberator is on a par with the defender of Pridnestrovie and the peacekeeper of the Russian Federation.

A representative of the President of the Russian Federation, member of the Public Chamber of Russia, chairman of the Foundation for the Study of Historical Perspective Natalia Narochnitskaya addressed the audience at the ceremony. She noted that for us this war will forever remain Great and Patriotic, no matter how liberal cynics mock at this memory, who say that the feat was not a feat.

According to Natalia Narochnitskaya, in World War II, Soviet people were threatened not only by the loss of some part of their material wealth or territory. The Hitler army invaded in order to deprive us of our right to a place in history, so that we cease to be a nation with a common culture, common historical experiences.

Veteran of the Great Patriotic War, participant of the Iasi-Kishinev operation, commander of the machine gun of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, 188th Red Banner Rifle Regiment, 61th Red Banner Guards Division Dmitry Nikitovich Sprintan shared his memories of the events with those gathered.

The operation, which lasted 9 days, rightfully went down in the history of military art as an example of the rapid encirclement and defeat of the enemy.

For successes in the Iasi-Kishinev operation, 126 units and often were awarded honorary titles of Kishinev, Iasi, Izmail, Fokshansk, Rymnitsky and others. Commanders of the fronts Marshals Tolbukhin and Malinovsky were awarded the Order of Victory. During the preparation and conduct of the operation, about 150 soldiers were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

At the end of the rally, fresh flowers were laid to the Obelisk of Glory on the Kitskansky bridgehead.
