The Memory of the People

They recalled the tragic events of 27 years ago in Dubossary. This day in 1990, the armed opposition members of Moldova made their first attempt to break into the city in order to establish a "constitutional order". On the way of the armed aggressors there were unarmed residents of Dubossary, united by a single impulse - not to let enslave their multinational, friendly and flourishing city. Defending the city, three people were killed. They are Vladimir Gotka, Valery Mitsul and Oleg Geletuk - ordinary workers and yesterday's schoolboy. 16 people were injured.

Every year, hundreds of residents of Dubossary come to the place of death of city defenders, who died in November 1990. They share memories of those tragic events and lay flowers to the memorable stela installed in the Big Fountain neighborhood on the battlefield, to the grave of heroes on the city's Memorial of Military Glory.

The event was attended by the deputy of the Supreme Council, chairman of “The Obnovlenie” (Renewal) faction Petr Pasat, the staff of the territorial party organization of of “The Obnovlenie” (Renewal), the citizens.
