The Memory stirs Soul

Parliamentarians became participants to the mourning meeting dedicated to the 24th anniversary of Bendery tragedy. ... It sounds the national anthem. Soldiers guard of honor of the Ministry of Defense are without motion in the parade. The head of state and head of the city, as well as the chairman of the Union of Defenders of Pridnestrovie Bendery addressed the audience to pay tribute to those who died for the freedom and independence of the Republic, residents of other towns and villages of the republic. The head of city public organization, uniting in its ranks living in Pridnestrovie Bendery defenders, Anatoly Bulda, had a speech for countrymen.

Direct participants and witnesses of those tragic events was a member of the Supreme Council Andrey Safonov. He was in the executive committee building, which Moldovan nationalists fired at point-blank range evening of 19 June 20, 1992. The question of what to do for the present generation to a tragedy like Bendery, never repeated.
