Solemn events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan were held. The memory of the deceased soldiers-internationalists was honored by the deputies of the Supreme Council together with the Pridnestrovians.
A procession of veterans of war in Afghanistan, members of their families and representatives of public organizations to the Memorial of Military Glory was held in Dubossary. There was a meeting dedicated to the memory of soldiers who performed military duty far from the Fatherland. The participants of the meeting laid flowers to the memorial wall dedicated to the soldiers-internationalists.
147 Afghans took part in the Afghan war. Afghanistan's veterans were the first to defend Pridnestrovie in 1992, six were killed. A booklet about the events of the Afghan war and the participation in it of Dubossary countrymen was handed to passers-by on the streets.
There was a solemn meeting-requiem at the Memorial of Defenders of the Fatherland in Rybnitsa. Deputies of the Supreme Council Valentin Matveychuk, Yakov Galak and Vasily Kunitsky laid flowers. There are class hours "Folk feats in the memory of the people" this week in the educational institutions of the city and the district, in which parliamentarians, deputies of local Soviets, participants of the Afghan war also take part.
A requiem meeting took place at the Memorial Mother of Sorrow In Grigoriopol. Chairman of the Council of People's Deputies Andrei Kovtun noted that the soldiers-"Afghans" acted in the execution of the military order, and did it with honor.
A solemn meeting took place at the monument "Black Tulip" in Bendery. Representatives of the city administration, the chairman of the Union of Internationalist Warriors of Bendery, Anatoly Nazimov, and the mother of the deceased soldier-internationalist Galina Chmil addressed the townspeople. The event was attended by Deputy of the Supreme Council Anton Onufrienko. At the end of the meeting, the city's residents honored the memory of 15 residents of Bendery who died in Afghanistan, with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the monument.
