In memory of the guards

The beginning of spring in Pridnestrovie is the days of memory and sorrow. The guardsmen who died 30 years ago in a battle in the village of Kochiery, Dubossary region were remembered today in the capital. Four fighters of the Republican Guard - Vasily Voronkov, Leonid Tolstenko, Sergey Shinkov and Sergey Titovsky died freeing the wives and children of the 14th Army soldiers captured by the Moldovan security forces on the 3rd of March, 1992. The guards are buried at the Memorial of Glory in Tiraspol.

The Minister of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Oleg Obruchkov addressed veteran guardsmen, servicemen, pupils of the Suvorov Military School, residents of the city.

The first President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov, Vice Speaker of Parliament Galina Antyufeeva, Deputy of the Supreme Council Grigory Dyachenko, Minister of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Oleg Obruchkov and other representatives of state authorities laid flowers today at the capital's Memorial of Glory to the graves where the heroes were buried.

The Vice-Speaker of the Parliament added that armed aggression against Pridnestrovie could destroy the unity, cohesion, love for each other, the peaceful life of people of different nationalities.

It was noted at the rally that Pridnestrovians will always remember the exploits of their defenders, who laid the most precious thing on the altar of freedom of our state – their lives.
