The Familiarization Visit

Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova Steven Fisher. The English diplomat has been holding this post since September 2019 and has visited our republic on familiarization visit.

Steven Fisher graduated from Oxford University, worked as an IT consultant. Since 1993, he has been an employee of the British Foreign Office. He headed the Department for Relations with Eastern European Countries, and headed the Department for Relations with the European Union. The diplomat has been the head of the human rights department in recent years.

Steven Fisher was interested in the role of the Supreme Council in the state system of our republic, as well as how the protection of human rights is carried out in Pridnestrovie, what is the role of the legislature of the republic in this, and whether there are other institutions that are involved in protecting human rights in Pridnestrovie.

The dialogue took place behind closed doors, after which the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov commented on its results.

The meeting with the British Ambassador was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeyeva and Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy Sergey Cheban.
