Pridnestrovians remember the tragic events of March 2, 1992 today. On the day when spring was celebrated on the banks of the Dniester and the bright holiday of Martisor was celebrated, large-scale aggression of the Republic of Moldova against Pridnestrovie began.
Today, 27 years later, memorable events took place in Dubossary in memory of the fallen defenders. Requiem meeting held at the memorial of military glory. The defenders of the republic, relatives of the dead, townspeople gathered to commemorate the victims. Deputies of the Supreme Council Peter Pasat, Andrei Sipchenko, Oleg Belyakov, representatives of local authorities took part in the rally.
Today they recalled the events of March 1992, when the Moldovan aggressors attempted to seize Dubossary. Late in the evening of March 1, the first head of the Dubossary Department of the Interior, Igor Sipchenko, was mortally wounded, and the militia major died. Then, without a single shot from Pridnestrovie, the Moldovan police in Dubossary were disarmed and expelled. Although 30 police officers of Moldova then surrendered without a fight, during their boarding on the bus, unknown persons instigated treacherous fire. As a result, a young Cossack Mikhail Zubkov died.
On a memorable day in Dubossary, a rally was held at the place of the death of Igor Sipchenko. A granite slab was installed near the house on Oktyabrskaya Street in memory of the first chief of the Dubossary militia. The ceremony of laying flowers took place at the place of death of the Don Cossack Mikhail Zubkov. Fresh flowers formed the memorable sign installed at the Dubossarsky District Department of Internal Affairs.
804 Pridnestrovians were killed in that undeclared war: the defenders of the republic, civilians, among whom there were children and women. 156 defenders of the city of Dubossary did not return home. Houses, factories, schools and hospitals were destroyed. Our task is to remember the feat of the people who defended native land.
