This autumn and early winter is called election times: September 18, on the territory of Pridnestrovie will be organized polling stations for the election of deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and on December 11 there will be elections of the head of our state in PMR.
An integral part of any election campaign and the election is the coverage of their travel and agitation. Mass media and journalists have the most directly relevant to these aspects. Media in this case are very important participant in the election process, as they ensure compliance with the principles of transparency and public control, allow voters to freely express their political will.
Issues that require early decision, in particular, the procedure for the accreditation of non-governmental media were discussed as part of the dialogue with the representatives of the members of the Central Election Commission of television, radio, news agencies, newspapers, news services. Attention of journalists was focused on the changes of electoral law during the election campaign for election of deputies of the Supreme Council and local representative bodies.
It is important for the media to familiarize potential applicants with the distribution conditions of agitation materials on paid and free basis. There was general agreement on the need to comply with the maximum accuracy, minimize the appearance of conflict. During the meeting, the CEC journalists were informed about the terms in which the campaign materials of candidates, the conditions of their admission and distribution can be posted and the difficulties that arose in the single day of voting, held on 29 November 2015 jointly tried to find the precise point which shares information and campaigning were discussed.
All the practical issues of election campaign coverage and placement of campaign materials of candidates CEC members planned to discuss with the media on a permanent site in the future, the format of which has to be determined. Current issues related to informing the public on the progress of preparations for the elections and campaigning will be discussed with journalists.
