Deputies of the Supreme Council of the PMR today in the course of the plenary session adopted the state program for development of the archival sector in Pridnestrovie. Such a program is being adopted in the republic for the first time. It is necessary because of the widespread informatization of society.
Archives are institutions of historical memory, documentary basis of the sovereignty of our republic, preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the people. State archives are the custodians of a huge, multidimensional complex of data that can be used at any time in the interests of citizens, society and the state.
The necessity of preserving historical memory, of how important it is to preserve and pass on to the younger generation the truth about all historical events, was discussed by the Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov. It is archives that allow saving this memory unchanged.
The archival industry has long required the attention of the state. The state program for the development of the archival industry is designed for three years. Initially, its effect was to extend to the period from 2020 to 2022. Today, as amended, the duration of the state program was postponed for the period from 2021 to 2023. The state program will ensure the safety and increase the level of security of the archival fund of the republic. It is estimated that the total funding of the state program will amount to 8 million 226 thousand rubles. With these funds, modern equipment will be purchased and installed, and the area under state archives, where various documents are stored, will expand. The law-in-draft was adopted in the final reading, approving the program for development of the archive industry, is sent for signature to the PMR President.
