Distance trading peculiarities will be enshrined in the law

01.11.2023

It is planned to take control of online commerce. The Government has taken a legislative initiative to enshrine the obligations of sellers and the rights of buyers in the relevant laws. Parliamentarians considered a package of legislations today that should regulate this area at a plenary session in the first reading.

Adjustments will be made to the laws “On the Protection of Consumer Rights”, and “On Internal Trade”, as well as to the Civil Code. All proposed changes relate to remote trading including using various Internet resources. As the Government representative noted, the State Supervision Service of the Ministry of Justice of the of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is currently recording complaints received against sellers who work remotely. Most often they complain about the seller’s refusal to exchange goods that do not fit, the lack of reliable information about the product before purchase, and much more.

The responsibilities of a seller who works remotely are not specified as in the Russian Federation, for example.

It is planned that the law will stipulate the seller’s obligations to provide complete information about the product: country of origin, technical characteristics, composition, etc. It will be regulated that a buyer who has not yet received the ordered goods has the right to refuse the transaction. It is possible to return the product and get money back within seven days after purchase.

Deputies adopted a package of legislative initiatives in the first reading in the course of the plenary meeting. The work will be continued.
