Empathizing with the tragedy of the people of South Ossetia

Rally-requiem in memory of the victims of the South Ossetian genocide took place at the PMR Foreign Ministry today. 100 years have passed since these tragic events.

On June 12, 1920, Georgian troops invaded Tskhinval. 13 young Ossetians were captured and executed. This happened on the morning of June 20, 1920. In connection with the 100th anniversary of the South Ossetian genocide, the current year 2020 in South Ossetia has been declared the Year of Remembrance.

National flags are lowered today in South Ossetia. Memorial services are held in temples, flowers are laid at memorial obelisks, a nationwide minute of silence took place. Commemorative events were also joined in Pridnestrovie.

The speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament Alexander Korshunov made a note in the book of memory of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia:

“On behalf of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and me personally please accept the sincere words of empathy on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the genocide of the Ossetian people by the national-chauvinist forces of Georgia. We admire the courage and steadfastness of the Ossetian people! We wish a peaceful sky, happiness to all citizens of Ossetia”.
