The mechanism of third party liability insurance for foreign car owners is defined

At the suggestion of the highest executive body, the Supreme Council has repeatedly extended the deadlines for the entry into force of the provision of the law “On Compulsory Insurance of Civil Liability of Vehicle Owners”, which regulates the procedure for foreign car owners to enter the republic. The third party liability insurance mechanism for foreigners should have been earned since January 1 of the following year. Parliamentarians during the plenary session considered law-in-draft aimed at this mechanism implementing. The developer of the document was the government.

The Green Card is an international system of third party liability insurance, the participants of which include the states adjacent to Pridnestrovie. Most foreign car owners who cross Pridnestrovie are its owners. Like all drivers, they can be the perpetrators of accidents. This year, according to statistics, there were more than twenty such accidents. At the same time, victims can receive insurance policy payments only in the countries of the international protocol. The main issue that the parliamentarians worried during the preliminary consideration of the law-in-draft concerned the implementation of the insurance compensation mechanism, in case the damage was caused to a citizen of our republic.

In this regard, the deputies of the Committee prepared a number of amendments to the law-in-draft, which were supported by the Supreme Council. If a citizen of Pridnestrovie suffers in a road accident due to the fault of a foreign car owner, he will be compensated for the damage from the Association of Motor Vehicle Insurers PMR.

In view of the amendments, the law-in-draft was adopted by the Supreme Council in two readings at once.
