The operation to rescue swans

Severe frosts, icing down the river, made a dangerous exposure to the Dniester several dozen of birds, which did not have time to fly to the south. A flock of swans was locked in a small ice-hole on the Dniester near the village Beloci Rybnitsa district.

Representative of the NGO "New Generation" Vladimir Galaychuk reported on the problem in social web. He said that the birds are starving and are attacked by foxes.

Local residents, social activists organized food supply, installed feedboxes. A few bags of grain mixture has been delivered to the place of forced wintering swans. Deputy of the Supreme Council of Rybnitsa district Jacob Galak visited it. The staff Ministry of MAWE, other departments, ornithologists were invited here with his help.

Experts are now watching them, making sure that the swans do not suffer from hunger and that they had access to water. Expected increase in air temperature gives some hope for the improvement of the situation.
