On September 11, 2017, at the age of 64, he passed away. Vasily Kalko was buried at the Borisov Cemetery.
Vasily Alexandrovich Kalko devoted his life to serving the people. He began his service in the Soviet militia in 1977. In the difficult times of the formation of the young republic, he headed the department of the Pridnestrovian militia of the city of Bendery, and practically created it from scratch. He worked in the criminal investigation system three years, gave six years to the service of district militia inspectors, and dedicated eighteen years to the investigative bodies. From April 2002 to June 2006, he headed the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the PMR. For the last ten years, Vasily Alexandrovich served as the Commissioner for Human Rights. He liked to repeat the phrase: "Treat people as you would like them to treat you". This principle he followed all his life. Vasily Kalko was awarded high state awards.
The memorial board was opened today in Bender in Tkachenko Street, 12, to the first head of the militia of Bendery, the first Ombudsman of Pridnestrovie Vasily Alexandrovich Kalko.
The opening ceremony of the plaque was attended by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky, deputies of local and Supreme Soviets, representatives of public organizations, townspeople. Gratitude for the memory that the Pridnestrovians keep about Vasily Kalko was expressed by his son.
