Parliamentarians adopted amendments and additions in the final reading to the law on compulsory motor third-party liability insurance, which allow for a simplified (without calling the traffic militia) registration of an accident with minor damage. The initiative to introduce the "Europrotocol" in Pridnestrovie was put forward by deputies of the Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance Viktor Guzun and Vadim Kravchuk. The authors note that this was requested by the citizens themselves. Often, minor accidents cause traffic jams in some areas: due to a shortage of special vehicles, the traffic militia cannot always quickly arrive at the scene of the accident, and drivers do not have the right to leave it.
Parliamentarians proposed to register accidents with minor damage without involving the traffic militia at the scene, but this can only be done under certain conditions:
- no more than two insured vehicles are involved in the accident;
- minor material damage that does not cause controversy;
- no harm to life and health;
- admission of guilt by the person who committed the accident;
- mutual consent to register according to a simplified scheme.
If all conditions are met, the participants in the accident draw up a notification of the traffic accident on the spot and send it to the insurer within 48 hours along with a photo or video recording of the accident. The amount of the insurance payment will be within 350 minimum wages (5075 rubles PMR).
The law allowing the use of the “Europrotocol” will come into force on January 1, 2026.
