There have been traditionally friendly relations between Pridnestrovie and Gagauzia for many years. Pridnestrovian volunteers provided assistance for the protection of the Gagauz people in 1990. Inter-parliamentary ties strengthened with the maturation of the republics. The relationship between the legislative bodies of the two republics reached a new level after the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Supreme Council of PMR and the People's Assembly of Gagauzia in March 2012. The exchange of experience takes place not only in the sphere of lawmaking. Residents of the Autonomy in 2014, as Pridnestrovians 10 years ago, have used this form of direct expression of the citizens, as a referendum. They were in favor of Eurasian integration in Gagauzia and the adoption of the right of Gagauzia people regarding external self-determination of the people in case of loss of statehood of the Republic of Moldova.
Celebrating a significant date for the people of Gagauzia - February 2 - the referendum, it is accompanied by the second year of the political organization of the forum. The theme of the current - "Gagauzia - 2016: the consistency of autonomy".
Further forms and methods of implementation of the outcome of the referendum held in 2014 were discussed at the political forum. Deputy of the Supreme Council Vadim Doni attended the forum. He read a welcome address on behalf of Pridnestrovian parliament speaker Vadim Krasnoselsky. The Deputy also shared his experience of the Pridnestrovian referendum.
Russian colleagues - MPs - Member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Igor Morozov, the deputy of the State Duma Elena Drapeko, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to RM Farit Mukhametshin, representatives of social and political circles of Moldova and Gagauzia were guests of the Policy Forum.
In the course of the forum, the deputy of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Igor Morozov informed about the positive results of cooperation of Gagauzia with the Russian region to intensify supervision of autonomy last year.
Senator expressed hope that Gagauzia will continue to remain a reliable supplier of high-quality agricultural products in Russia. This, according to the Russian parliamentarian, should promote the full participation of Moldova in the free trade zone of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Forum participants expressed the desire of the people of Gagauzia for the continuation of the economic, cultural and political rapprochement with Russia and confirmed the inviolability of the outcome of the referendum in 2014. Prospects of interregional cooperation of Gagauzia with the Russian Federation, facilitating the enterprise trade regimes of autonomy with Russia, attracting Russian investments in industry and agriculture of the region were designated during the visit of Russian parliamentarians.
