Pridnestrovie elect a president. Citizens need to state their preference by selecting one of the six candidates. To win, you must win the support of more than half of voters (50% + 1 vote). For the elections to be declared valid, 25% of the citizens entitled to vote must put the cherished papers in the ballot boxes. There are 261 polling stations and about 417,000 voters in the country. 3208 people took part in early voting in the period from 6 to 10 December. 22 790 (5.5%) Pridnestrovians voted by 9 am Dec. 11.
The first President of PMR Igor Smirnov gave his voice for a candidate for the post of the head of state at 10 o'clock in the Palace of the Republic (the polling station №227).
The Chairman of the Election Commission Valentina Andrianova, said that there are voting residents of the central city district.
Approximately 90 people were registered as international observers. The staff of All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Research are working across the republic. They can poll citizens at a distance of not less than 50 meters from the entrance from the polling station.
Information center operates under the CEC PMR, for work of which about a hundred journalists are accredited.
