The Socially Significant Transport Routes (UPDATE)

We are talking about supporting transport organizations involved in the transportation of passengers. It is proposed to supplement the Law "On Transport" with the concepts of "regular route", " route" and "socially significant regular route". Passenger traffic on regular routes decreased by 57%, transportation became unprofitable due to the spread of the coronavirus infection COVID-19. Routes to remote villages of the republic have become unprofitable in fact.

People who live in remote villages cannot reach the regional centers. In addition, there is no discount travel provided by the legislation.

The state will be able to subsidize transport organizations serving socially significant routes in 2021. The procedure for providing and spending subsidies to transport organizations will be established by the PMR Government. The Supreme Council adopted the law-in-draft in two readings at once.
