On January 24, the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky appealed to the Secretary-General and the Chairman of the Security Council of the United Nations with an appeal to provide all possible assistance to end the fuel and energy crisis and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Pridnestrovie. Letters with similar content were sent to the Presidents of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the United States, the heads of state and government of a number of European Union countries, the Chairman of the European Commission, representatives of the participants in the international format "5 + 2", as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The President drew attention to the fact that due to rolling blackouts of electricity for 5-8 hours a day, houses and apartments do not have time to warm up, the average temperature in the rooms and houses of pensioners and children is 10 degrees. People's attempts to warm up lead to fires in homes, carbon monoxide poisoning, and there are fatalities. Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the actions of the Moldovan leadership to prolong the energy crisis and worsen the negative humanitarian consequences by constantly putting forward new demands and administrative and bureaucratic "obstacles". Although the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu has repeatedly publicly stated in the media that Moldova will not interfere with gas supplies to Pridnestrovie.
The PMR President in his appeal asks not to allow discrimination against the Pridnestrovian population through efforts to end the energy and associated humanitarian crisis, which is fraught with a critical deterioration in the situation of the population of Pridnestrovie, a violation of the inalienable universal rights of people, including the right to life, health, and security.
