The Commissioner for Human Rights Vyacheslav Kosinsky informed the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba about the work results in 2017. Totally, last year the ombudsman received 655 applications from citizens, Pridnestrovie and foreign countries. Most often, pensioners, disabled people, unemployed applied for help.
Last year, the specialists of the Office of the Commissioner visited children's homes, health camps, specialized correctional institutions, veterans' homes, as well as places of deprivation of liberty. Experts familiarized themselves with the living conditions of citizens, their food, availability of medical support.
The Chairman of the Supreme Council recommended the Commissioner for Human Rights to pay attention to implementation of the law "On Citizens' Appeals". The head of the legislature of the republic noted it should be improved. He called on the ombudsman to take part in drafting the necessary amendments.
