On the extension of quarantine measures in the republic

The law-in-draft of the President that concerns extension of the period of validity of a number of legislative acts aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection in the republic is included to the agenda of the online plenary meeting. The document was received in the mode of legislative necessity. It is connected with the fact that the term of the restrictive measures expires on September 30. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky proposes to extend it until December 1, 2020.

The official also provided statistics. According to him, approximately 30 thousand people were in mandatory self-isolation during the entire period of the quarantine measures. Today there are 1810 people. 130 thousand checks were carried out totally during the quarantine period, 1265 violations were revealed in self-isolation. This suggests that most of the people adequately assess the situation and are law-abiding, added Radion Cebotari. He also emphasized that the task of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is not to punish people for violating quarantine, but to have an effective mechanism to prevent and combat the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection in the republic.

The deputies voted for the adoption of the law-in-draft by the President in two readings. The document has been sent for signature to the President. According to the head of the Obnovlenie parliamentary faction Petr Pasat, the adoption of the presidential law-in-draft suggests that the executive body will have the right to prolong the current measures to combat coronavirus infection.
