Ombudsman Vyacheslav Kosinsky presented a report on the results of the apparatus’s work during the past year to the Supreme Council. It contains statistics on the number of reviewed cases, raised by residents of the republic issues. To discuss the joint cooperation of the legislative branch and the Office of the Ombudsman, the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov and his deputy Galina Antyufeyeva met with the ombudsman. Vyacheslav Kosinsky thanked the parliament leadership for the visit and spoke about the main results.

The ombudsman told the guests about the service that protects the rights of families of servicemen. According to the Ombudsman, the staff carried out 11 checks in units during 2018. As a result, a number of violations were revealed, about which the Ministry of Defense was informed, petitions were sent to eliminate their causes.

Inspections of the Human Rights Ombudsman were also carried out in medical institutions. Vyacheslav Kosinsky noted that a number of violations were revealed here. Relevant information was sent to the government. Inspection of medical institutions at the end of last year showed a change in the situation for the better.

Speaker Alexander Korshunov asked the ombudsman about the staff, as well as the working conditions of the staff. According to Vyacheslav Kosinsky, today 16 people work in the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. The ombudsman talked about small salaries of the staff of the department. Currently, it is necessary to update the material and technical base.
