About the new in legislative base

After signing by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky, amendments to the law “On Acts of Civil Status” voted by deputies of the Supreme Council came into effect. In accordance with it, books of state registration of acts of civil status will now be stored not in local executive authorities, whose competence includes the organization of activities for state registration of acts of civil status, but in the republican archive.

Books of state registration of acts of civil status, the so-called record books, from now on should not be stored 75, as before, but 100 years from the date of compiling civil status records. After that they are transferred to the republican archive of civil status records. Here, in turn, they make an examination of both copies of assembly books, as a result of which one of them is destroyed and the other (having the best condition) is to be stored indefinitely.

In order to improve work methods and introduce elements of a scientific organization into the activities of a specified body, information from the records can be entered into the database of relevant data using a computer (or other method), while not allowing writing off and destroying vital records.
