New mechanism for financing science

How will scientific activities in Pridnestrovie be financed? This issue is on the agenda of the Supreme Council. The mechanism that changes the payment scheme for the activities of research laboratories was discussed by the deputies of the parliamentary group.

Research laboratories have not been funded since the beginning of this year, despite the fact that the money for this is included in the budget. The Government considers that many laboratories work inefficiently, and insists that money should not be allocated for the remuneration of employees of research laboratories, but for approved state orders for research.

Deputies consider that funding for scientific activities should continue, despite the fact that the new mechanism has not been approved. The Government and the Supreme Council have to find a common solution, how the existing salary arrears will be paid to scientists, what will be the frequency of payments for research work, and by what criteria the cost of the service will be determined. Amendments to the budget law for this year should resolve all these issues.
