New state target program in the field of healthcare "Prevention and treatment of HIV infection, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections" will come into effect in the republic next year.
Two state target programs in the field of healthcare "Prevention of HIV / AIDS infection and sexually transmitted infections" and "Prevention of viral hepatitis B and C in the PMR" will expire in 2024. The Government of the PMR noted that the goals and objectives of these state programs are similar. They are aimed at containing the spread of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and STD, reducing morbidity and improving the quality of life of people living with these diseases. Therefore, it was decided to combine the two programs into one.
The new state program "Prevention and Treatment of HIV Infection, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections", which is designed until 2028, provides for a number of activities. Among them are testing the population for HIV/syphilis and viral hepatitis, vaccination against the hepatitis B virus, ensuring universal access to treatment, informing the population about the methods of transmission of HIV infection, viral hepatitis and STD and conducting ongoing monitoring.
The deputies supported the draft of the new state target program in the first reading at a plenary session. Work on the initiative will continue in the relevant parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare, taking into account all comments and suggestions.
