Non-purpose use of funds from eco-funds is prohibited

Amendments and additions to the law “On Environmental Protection” and to the Resolution of the Supreme Council of 2005 “On approval of the standard Regulations of the territorial target budget environmental fund” were adopted by the Parliament. Financing of some material and technical needs of government bodies will no longer be carried out at the expense of environmental funds. There was previously a provision in the legislation that provided the opportunity to use up to 20% of the funds received by the Republican Environmental Fund to finance activities for the maintenance and development of the material and technical base of government and administrative bodies. According to the initiative of the deputies of the Supreme Council, this provision will be excluded from the legislation. It will be prohibited to spend funds from any territorial environmental funds on the maintenance and development of the material and technical base of government bodies. All funds received by environmental funds must go only to environmental activities.

The law-in-draft was supported by the deputy corps in two readings at once; it will be sent to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for signing and promulgation.
