Unpleasant smell disturbs residents of Tiraspol

30.05.2018

After considering the issues included in the agenda, the deputies discussed the ecological situation in the capital. The cases of appeals to the parliamentarians of residents of the Oktyabrsky neighborhood, which complain of an unpleasant smell, have become more frequent. The head of the State Environmental Protection and Environment Service Vasily Sotnikov and the head of the quarantine and environmental department of the capital department Alexey Leonov were invited to participate in the plenary session to clarify the situation. The head of the profile service confirmed the presence of facts of air pollution.

He also said that during the raid on an abandoned landfill the specialists found places of burning electrical wiring and plastic. Thus, according to experts, attackers extracted non-ferrous metals.

As noted by the representative of the Tiraspol Directorate of Internal Affairs, the first fact of arson was revealed in late March. At the same time, people began to complain. The day before the problem was discussed at meeting with the President. Profile services were tasked to understand this problem, punish the perpetrators and prevent a repetition of the situation. The plenary meeting emphasized that planned inspections of Moscow enterprises did not reveal any significant violations of air pollution.

Extraordinary checks will be at enterprises of Tiraspol by the decision of the government in the near future to dispel all speculation. Deputies suppose that profile services should respond promptly to citizens' appeals, conducting inspections on all the revealed facts.

To increase efficiency in this matter, the website of the State Environmental Protection and Environmental Protection Service has a phone number and a hotline.

The Ombudsman will also be involved in the solution of the problem. The profile service is recommended to consider the possibility of installing additional environmental posts. The results of daily air checks should be published in the media. Parliamentarians are sure: in order to prevent such violations, it is necessary to strengthen control over the canned landfills.
