To impose a fine

13.05.2015

In the course of the plenary session the deputies discussed a legislative initiative of deputies of the Supreme Council Valery Chervonooky on amendments to the law "On protection of citizens' health from environmental tobacco smoke exposure and consequences of tobacco consumption". The author proposes to exclusion of the rule prohibiting the sale of tobacco products at a distance of a hundred meters from educational institutions. It is worth noting that the adopted by parliamentarian law, which will come into force on 20 May this year may put this rule into practice. As explained by Valery Chervonooky, many of the outlets will be outlawed. The Deputy also drew attention to the ambiguous understanding of the rules adopted by the law regarding the right to determine the distance between the retail outlets and school grounds.

The author of the new law-in-draft also said that at the previous plenary session the initiative of the four-fold fine increase for the sale of cigarettes to minors was supported. Parliamentarians also supported the idea to introduce administrative liability for the offense for legal persons with a fine of up to 90 MW.

Deputies found the arguments of the colleagues reasonable. The law-in-raft on exclusion of the rule prohibiting the sale of tobacco products at a distance of a hundred meters from educational institutions, was adopted in the first reading.
