The Parliament Speaker, Deputy for constituency No. 1 Alexander Korshunov, as well as deputies of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for Bendery constituencies No. 3 and No. 6 Oleg Petrik and Ruslan Gareev on the eve of a memorable day for all Pridnestrovians, the Day of the Bendery Tragedy arrived at the museum of the same name, which is preparing to open after restoration. The parliamentarians were accompanied by Chairman of the Bendery City Council Yuri Kara.
The new exposition for the Museum of the Bendery Tragedy is almost ready, director of the Bendery Museum of Local History Alexander Tikhonov told the parliamentarians. Now the repair work in the museum is at the final stage. The opening is scheduled for the 19th of June.
The exhibition itself is larger than before. The Bendery Tragedy Museum will have three exhibition halls instead of the previous two. Here you can see not only archival documents, helmets with traces of bullets, the uniform of the defenders of Pridnestrovie, but also a huge number of photographs. The exposition was replenished with color photographs in good quality.
The reconstruction of the working committee is being completed in one of the halls. It was located in the basement of the Bendery City Council in 1992 (the current building of the city administration). In order to accurately recreate the atmosphere of this small office, museum workers searched themselves, and turned to the townspeople with a request to help with household items that were used in the early 90s. Residents of Bendery responded. So, for example, an old TV appeared in the museum.
There are already stands, the exhibits themselves are gradually taking their places in the hall where the main exposition will be placed. Deputies from the Bendery districts Alexander Korshunov, Oleg Petrik and Ruslan Gareev were told that not only the walls were renovated during the renovation. All pipes and wiring have been replaced. There was not enough light here before, now the halls are well lit.
The Chairman of the Supreme Council noted the changes in the Hall of Memory and Sorrow. There were previously photographs of the dead defenders of Pridnestrovie, which the museum workers managed to find and which the families shared. By the opening day of the museum after restoration, the names of absolutely all those who died in Bendery in the summer of 1992 will be carved on a granite slab. That's almost five hundred names.
The Bendery Tragedy Museum was opened in the city five years after the events of the summer of 1992, although the first stands dedicated to these terrible events appeared in the local history museum of Bender back in August 1992. The museum workers together with the city department of public education and the state administration are planning to conduct regular excursions here after the grand opening, which will take place this Sunday. First of all, for the students of city schools, so that the memory of the feat of the defenders of Bendery and the whole of Pridnestrovie lives on.
