Saturday morning at the Veteran club in Tiraspol was unusually noisy. Veterans of the special rapid reaction unit Dniester gathered at the entrance to the hall. There was enough news during the quarantine, so the beginning of the solemn meeting had to be delayed. Everyone is wearing protective masks in the hall as it should be according to the rules of this year. State awards are laid out on the table near the leadership of the veteran organization.
The vice-speaker emphasized: without the people who gathered in the Veteran club, the 30th anniversary of Pridnestrovie could not have happened. A separate battalion of special purpose Dniester was created on August 9, 1991. Since March 1992, the Dniester battalion was one of the first divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to defend Pridnestrovie. Its fighters took part in the most difficult battles to protect the PMR from aggression of the Republic of Moldova in the areas of Dubossary, Grigoriopol, Cocier, Chitscan, Bendery, Koshnitsa. "Dniester" also guarded especially important objects of Pridnestrovie and participated in operations to suppress the actions of sabotage groups. During the hostilities, 4 soldiers of the Dniester battalion were killed, 8 were wounded.
Presenting state awards for the 30th anniversary of the formation of the PMR, which veterans of the Dniester battalion were awarded by the Decree of the PMR President, Galina Antyufeyeva emphasized: each of those present in the hall today is a real hero.
