The new composition of the Central Election Commission started its work

The speaker of parliament adviser Elena Gorodetskaya was elected as its Chairman in the course of the first meeting of the new CEC PMR. This organ includes totally 21 persons. They have been delegated from the President, the Supreme Council and town and regional councils of people's deputies, on a parity basis.

The main issue on the agenda of the first organizational meeting of the new CEC was the election of Chairman of the Central Election Commission. Two candidates were invited for this post: Elena Gorodetsky and Vladislav Finagin.

After the submission of nominations for the position of Chairman of the Central Election Commission its members applicants were asked questions regarding their work plans if elected to this high state post.

After the election of members and the chairman of the counting commission the CEC members started the procedure of secret ballot. According to the results Elena Gorodetsky - 12 votes, Vladislav Finagin - 9. Elections of the deputy head of the Central Election Commission and the Secretary of the CEC were alternative. Ruslan Cheban was elected (11 out of 21 votes "for") and Galina Shlenskova (13 votes "for").

Members of the CEC in the course of its first meeting discussed issues of current activities. One of them concerned the abdication of one of the members of the district election commission in the electoral district №4 “Leninsky” Bendery according to the submitted application.

It is expected that a regular meeting of the Central Election Commission take place after 2-3 weeks.
