The event, dedicated to May 9, was held in the republic for the third year. This time the event took place on the Kitskan bridgehead, where in the spring of 1944 the Soviet command decided to make decisive attack to the enemy. The Iasi-Chisinau operation became one of the largest in the history of the Great Patriotic War. The Obelisk of Glory was erected in 1972, on the Kitskan heights, in memory of this battle. The action was attended by the military men of the sports game "The Young Patriot of Pridnestrovie", the leadership of the district and the city, deputies of the Supreme Council Pavel Shinkaryuk and Vadim Doni. Participants of the mass event laid flowers and made the word "Victory" from the burning candles.
The All-Russian mass event "The Candle of Memory" was held for the first time in 2015, became a tradition for the countries of the former Soviet Union. The action passes with special solemnity in all cities of our republic where descendants in memory of victims in days of the Great Patriotic War light candles.
