The Pridnestrovian State University named after Shevchenko celebrated on the 1st of October the 94th anniversary of its foundation. It was the Tiraspol Pedagogical Institute, then the change in status and the development of the university occurred along with the creation and formation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in almost 60 years. The Pridnestrovian State University named after Shevchenko is the center of education and scientific research in the republic, where 260 candidates and doctors of sciences work in various fields today.
Modern education requires modern methods and a scientific and technical base. PSU has been reconstructed since 2020. Buildings A, B and C have already been renovated and commissioned after major repairs at the expense of the Capital Investment Fund, which is financed from the republican budget. Furniture and equipment necessary for the educational process and scientific research of the 21st century are being updated along with the repair of walls and ceilings. The Archaeological Museum Complex was opened on the day of the formation of PSU on October 1as part of the renovation of building B, which was commissioned by the beginning of the new academic year 2024-2025. There are behind the glass display cases some of the artifacts that tell about who and how lived on the Pridnestrovian lands for tens of thousands of years. Pridnestrovian archaeologists have excavated thousands of household items, dishes, jewelry, tools and more over 33 years. The chief archaeologist of Pridnestrovie emphasized that the first exposition with archaeological finds was opened at PSU in 1997. Almost immediately there was no shelf space in the hall allocated for the museum in Building A. Large archaeological exposition was placed in the exhibition hall of the Catherine Park in Tiraspol in 2021, at the suggestion of the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky. Another part of the excavated and restored exhibits on the history of the Pridnestrovian land will now be stored in the new museum at PSU. The archaeological artifacts were shown to the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Galina Antyufeeva and other guests of the university after the opening ceremony. The skeleton of an ancient warrior, clay figurines of a person that were created before the Egyptian pyramids, a Sinopean amphora that is at least 2 thousand years old among the exhibits on display are decorations from the breastplate of a Scythian horse. The curators of the archeology museum, located in building B of the Shevchenko PSU, will soon determine the opening hours of the hall so that schoolchildren, students and anyone interested in the history of Pridnestrovie can come and see the priceless archeological artifacts.
