The Bridge between Cultures and Epochs

Stamps have always been a bridge between cultures and epochs. Bendery fortress citadel spoke about significance of their heritage. Presentation and stamps extinction dedicated to the family crest of Russian imperial army commanders who have made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of Pridnestrovian land was held in the historic place. Family crest of Alexander Suvorov, Mikhail Kutuzov, Peter Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, Peter Wittgenstein, Nicholai Rajewski, Gregory Potemkin and Foma Luzanova were depicted on the printed postal marks.

According to the director of State Unitary Enterprise "The Stamp of Pridnestrovie" Vsevolod Lavrentev, most of the presented generals had to do with the liberation of Bendery fortress or served on its territory.

Quantity of stamps amounted to 6000 copies.

The presentation ceremony and extinguishing series of stamps was attended by the deputy of the Supreme Council Oleg Baev, Prime Minister Pavel Prokudin, the first President of PMR Igor Smirnov. The need to preserve the integrity of the historical events and the inadmissibility of rewriting the past was mentioned in the course of the event. Attention was also paid to the generality of the Russian and Pridnestrovian people and a single history.
