The Bridge between Youth Ideas and Power

The final meeting of the Youth Parliament was held in the past year. Young parliamentarians summed up the work in 2018. The main achievement - it was possible to establish close contact with representatives of the government. The members of the parliament studied legislations on youth, which were considered by the Supreme Council, attended meetings of parliamentary committees, took the initiative and sent their recommendations.

Members of the Youth Parliament over the past period held about 70 events of various kinds. These are sports, cultural, volunteer and educational projects.

Young parliamentarians paid much attention to social events. They were held under the auspices of the Year of Equal Opportunities.

Olga Ievleva, chair of the committee on social policy, family and childhood issues of the Youth Parliament, spoke about the work in this direction. She gave examples of all sorts of events, festivals, flash mobs, competitions. Public figures, people with disabilities, government officials, schoolchildren, and volunteers were involved in it.

This is, for example, the “From Heart to Heart” project, where caring citizens and volunteers helped raise funds for an expensive operation to a small resident of Dubossary. Youth social integration festival “The future is ours” was held in Dubossary. Its main goal is to support youth initiatives in the sphere of creating a barrier-free environment, self-realization of people with disabilities. All this contributes to the adaptation of persons with disabilities, their socialization.

Members of the Youth Parliament at the end of the meeting assured that they are not going to slow down the activity. Next year the work will continue.
